This phase went fine, so we feel that we are now ready to present you with the new stable version of the mod - Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas 1.5.3! Just like before, this is an update for our current stable version series - MTA:SA 1.5. Contrary to this definition, it is rather a huge update which contains mostly smaller changes, but makes up. Multi Theft Auto is the first Grand Theft Auto multiplayer mod. Roleplay, race, deathmatch, zombies, and more. San Andreas is waiting for you.

The PS2 combinations for cheats marked with an asterisk (*) were not officially released by Rockstar Games. They were discovered by edisoncarter from GTA Forums by wiring the PS2 controller up to the PC's parallel port and trying numerous combinations at high speed. Needless to say, this is not recommended for people to try at home, since it also requires special software to make this work.

Quests through the source code of the game also reveal various hidden button codes for special cheats, yet the button combinations are up to the point of writing . Perhaps we shall find out the combinations in the future, but for now these cheats can only be triggered with cheat devices. The cheats include (but are not limited to):

• all cars with nitrous
• all cars with hydraulics
• infinite health
• infinite ammo
• infinite oxygen
• never wanted
• anyone can be recruited to your gang
• spawn Hunter
• spawn Dozer
• all streetlights 'strobe' streetlights
• all cars turn into bikes / countryside cars / sports cars / special vehicles
• 'mission select' code (known to have been used in beta stages, possibly removed)

The rest of the cheat codes and more were finally found 6 months after release not through the brute force method, but by interpreting the hash values created by different combinations of button presses, and then comparing the resulting hashes with hashes for cheat codes programmed into the game. Due to the way the game's cheat codes are programmed (32-bit), it was discovered that every cheat had a huge number of different button combinations that triggered it. So far the list of codes ending with L1 has been extracted, and the estimated number of working combinations is over 200,000.
